Relaxed Breathing

Take several deep breaths. Make sure you breath with your stomach and not just move your chest in and out. Breathing with your stomach means your stomach moves as you breath in and out. Some people have not done this purposefully in a long time and it may seem a little odd to perform. The process is very natural and should be easy to train yourself to do.

  1. Relax your body first. Get your body in a comfortable posture with the head back and the shoulders relaxed.
  2. Breath in through the nose. As you take a breath focus on your stomach expanding. The diaphragm is the “breathing muscle” when this contracts it pulls the lungs down in the chest so they can expand with air, while also pushing down into the contents of the abdomen. Relaxed breathing should be from the diaphragm.
  3. Take several of these breaths to help retrain yourself over time.
